Michael Jackson’s Kids revealed, and they are just kids!

August 3rd, 2009 · 3 Comments

Finally, Michael Jackson’s children have been revealed to the camera’s and we find that they are just kids.  Thankfully they are now able to live a more normal life.  But what will be the cost of their father’s pledge to protect them.

Prince Michael and Prince Michael II, aka Blanket, were seen out in Los Angeles this weekend.  We did miss seeing Paris Michael in the crew.  It was good to see the children looking like normal children.  Noticeably absent were the infamous face masks as well as any other disguise.  They actually appeared as healthy normal children.

But with their history I cannot help but wonder if MJ’s best intentions may have caused serious issues in the children.  The king of pop made dramatic efforts to keep the identity of his children a secret.  The children were rarely seen in public and when they were seen they were enshrouded in masks and facial coverings.

At their age’s is it possible that they understood the attempts at secrecy regarding their appearance, or could they have been made to feel inferior, insecure or just plain different to other children.  Is it possible they could end up with serious low self esteem issues or insecurities, and Michael’s efforts prove detremental to the kids.

Michael’s mother, Katherine Jackson has recently been awarded custody of the children.  I certainly hope she proves to be a strong woman who is able to help Prince, Paris and Blanket get through these difficult times and grow to be strong, self assured young adults.  I pray that she will be able to detect emotional issues and find the appropriate professional to help the children if this seems necessary.

ummm… dude the kids were photographed quite a few times without the masks on! In particular when they were just travelling with their nanny. That was the whole point - to hide their identities so when they weren’t with Michael they could walk around freely.

It’s easy to criticise Michael for influencing them to wear masks.. but have you seen the footage when they are out with their dad??? To have a minimum of 50 people (mostly grown men/paparazzi) surround you and flashing cameras in your face and screaming fans I think the kids probably liked wearing the masks!

With their dad being Michael Jackson their life was not normal… the media/paparazzi/crazed fans made it impossible for them to function as “normal” kids in public with their dad. I don’t think making them cover their faces from masses of cameras and hysteria will cause any detrimental effects to their lives. Proof of that seeing Paris on stage at his funeral. They are very, very intelligent kids and if they haven’t fully comprehended why their father tried to protect them I am sure over time as they are now hounded and photographed freely they will understand.

aj makes a valid argument, but does that mean that all other celebrities who teach there children how to better deal with the notoriety of their parents are wrong in exposing their offspring. I imagine that the paparazzi and fans will never go away, so how can hiding them solve anything. I also wonder what MJ’s children will feel when they see that other famous children were not shrouded. Just a thought, as I am no psych major.

CeCe there’s a BIG difference between being the child of Michael Jackson and say being a child of Brad Pitt. Both celebrities are extremely famous and photographed, but the circus that surrounded Michael Jackson and his young children when he was on the street/airports ect is an extremely different environment then what the Pitt children have to deal with. I’m not saying either way is right or wrong, but I do think the choices Michael made are justifiable as a parent considering HIS environment.

Like I said, particularly in the past year, the children have been photographed in shops and on the street without masks with their father… so obviously as they were getting older the restrictions were getting less.
