I’m sure that without entertainment our life on the Earth would be very similar to hell. If you could ever imagine a complete emptiness stretching through ages then it would be exactly the world without entertainment. I think that the world without entertainment would be dull, silent and predictable like stones in the mountains or water in the ocean.

In fact people often dream about an ideal world which could be built by the progressive humanity some day. Many progressive advanced human minds tried to picture at least approximate picture of the ideal world. I should say that for the last time it has become rather a fashionable feature to picture the ideal world of the distant future. As you know people have many ways to picture the ideal world. I mean books, music, computer games, movies and so on. It’s believed that in the ideal world people won’t be obliged to work hard because it’s supposed that cyborgs are going to be universal servants for humans. Moreover it’s beloved that the world of the distant future will be the nanotechnological paradise or something like this. Perhaps you’ve heard about nanotechnologies. In fact nanotechnologies are considered to be a relatively widespread theme in science fiction stories. People dream about so called nanoassemblers which are supposed to outclass traditional manufacturers in the future. I mean an opportunity of assembling anything by putting separate atoms together. Certainly in this case people picture such an ideal picture as the complete absence of factories giving dirty emissions every second.

Perhaps you might have guessed that in most cases people feel really relaxed when they start dreaming about imagined benefits of the distant future. As follows from this we can say that dreaming about the world of the future is just a sort of entertainment. Yes, it’s really a kind of entertainment from my point of view. I’ve just told you above those numerous video games, movies, books and other related entertainment stuff devoted to our happy science fiction future. It’s really a surprising thing that we are entertained by the imagined world of the future when still haven’t got an opportunity to live in it. But we still keep a hope that sooner or later the world pictured in science fiction plots will arise and we’ll become the true citizens of this new world.

As for me I don’t recognize any other kinds of entertainment except that one mentioned above. I’ve been collecting books, movies, posters concerning this matter for ten years and I’m not going to stop. I should say that I’ve got certain problems with the storage of all these materials in my home. In other space I’m limited in space to store boxes with this entertainment stuff. But I hope I’ll cope with this problem very soon. I want to live in the world of science fiction.
