The Essence Music Festival is less than one month away, and I am so excited.  The Essence Music Festival will be celebrating it’s 15th anniversary in New Orleans over the Independance Day holiday weekend.  The Essence Music Festival began in 1995, honoring Essence Magazine’s 25th birthday, and has become an annual tradition for many.  With an all star line up featuring Al Green, Anita Baker, Maxwell, John Legend and Beyonce.

If you are looking for something to do during the day there will be free empowering seminars open to the public. Over the three day weekend seminars will be held that feature their own all star line up including Bill Cosby, Steve Harvey, Reverend Al Sharpton, Dr. Brenda Wade, Actress Malinda Williams and many, many more. I look forward to hearing Bill Cosby and Steve Harvey speak.

Performances will be by such artists as Frankie Beverly and Maze, Maxwell, Al Green, Teena Marie, Ne-Yo, John Legend, Beyonce and many others. This is a line up that will have something for everyone. I can’t wait to see Frankie Beverly and Maze.

On the Friday and Saturday night the after party will be hosted by Idris Elba and feature celebrity guests galore. The chance to meet Mr Elba is enough for me. The Essence Music Festival is the place to be for Independance Day. Hope to see you all there.
