Entertain Yourself With Modeling Vehicles And Scenes.

June 22nd, 2010 · No Comments

Hi, I’d like to face the question of modeling. As you know modeling is a very popular kind of home entertainment. To start with let’s give a short definition of this creative activity. So to cut a long story short modeling is just production and construction of scale models of aircraft, cars, tanks, ships and other vehicles. Modeling is divided into two main types such as technical simulation and large-scale modeling. I hope you realize that large scale modeling can’t be suitable for home entertainment because large scale models require much time, huge efforts and accuracy to be assembled in the right way. I think large scale models can only be successfully used in corresponding advanced industries to test probable characteristics of different prototypes before their production. This refers to airplanes, cars, trains and so on. But at the same time there might be some exceptions. For example, a flying model of an airplane can not be a large-scale reproduction of the original airplane.

So you understand that it would be better for you to forget about large scale models. I think that you should pay attention exactly to technical simulation. In this case I mean models of rather an affordable size which could be made by you relatively easily. In this case you’ll be solely absorbed by the process of creating copies of real objects in a certain scale. Now there are many posters depicting models at different stages of home production. By the way working models also exist and they are quite popular. I should say that stand models accurately reflect only the view of the prototype, but the acting ones show how their real prototypes are operated. Models can be performed at any scale, but there are a number of common ones such as 2:1, 1:1, 1:2, 1:3, 1:24, 1:32, 1:35, 1:43, 1:72, 1:87, 1:20, 1:160, and others. By the way some models tend to become detailed copies of their real prototypes, copying up to the size of the rivets on turrets and color of belts. I’d like to inform you that the first set of models to be assembled appeared in England in 1932. The first model was the flying model of the aircraft Supermarine S6B. As you know the main materials used in home modeling are either plastic or cardboard.

Most probably besides modeling different vehicles you are likely to try modeling famous battles. Of course in this case I mean sets of static models composing the entire scene from our history. To model these scenes people mostly apply such scales as 1:35, although there are also scenes in scale 1:16, 1:32 and 1:72. As for the basic requirements for depicting static historical scenes are your an artistic vision, detailed copies of different historical features, quality painting techniques and so on. For your modeling you can use plastic and rubber though nobody can forbid you using other materials. I don’t doubt that you’ll be greatly delighted by modeling.
