R&B Singer Chris Brown was sentenced today for his abuse of then girlfriend Rihanna. A stern and firm Judge Patricia Schnegg sentenced Brown to five years probation and six months, manual labor, community service.
The sentencing hearing was delayed from last week as Judge Schnegg wished to ensure that Chris would serve physical labor. His sentence will be served in Virginia. Rihanna did not appear in court for the sentencing hearing and I can only hope this means she has chosen to put this behind her and move forward with the rest of her life. This experience could not have been easy, but I would like to think that she walked away with something positive out of it. All lessons if they don’t kill us only make us stronger.
As for Mr. Brown, while I certainly do not condone his behavior, I can not help but feel empathy towards him. This should prove a hard lesson for him to forget. Not only the stigma of a criminal record, but the knowledge that this kind of behavior will not be tolerated from him again.
Hopefully both of these two people will learn their lessons and move forward. With Chris Brown sentenced, we should all try to move past this. People make mistakes, this is how we learn. Hopefully, Chris has learned. I wish Rihanna every blessing life could extend her. May these two yound adults grown into mature responsible people.
