Celebrity Experience In Maintaining Long-Term Relations

June 12th, 2010 · No Comments

Celebrities’ lives are very different from what the majority of regular people is used to. Celebrities have money and fame which allow them to afford much more that regular people can even dream of. But still they are human and thus, they do a lot of staff regular people do. They fall in love, date, get married, have kids etc. When celebrities start dating that is a real event for their fans. Numerous articles are published, the news is discussed on television and radio shows, Internet is full of photos of a happy couple. Celebrities are used to be in the spotlight. But when they start dating mass media attention gets considerably more intensive. Paparazzi are always around to take a snap. Reporters are constantly seeking way to ask a couple of questions. Celebrity couples feel how much pressure is bestowed on them. When do they find time to enjoy their relationships if they have those extremely tight schedules combines with excessive mass media pressure? I think it’s quite challenging to keep relationship under such conditions.

Moreover, they have other things to take care of like parenting, finances, marital intimacy etc. This is difficult to cope with when the schedules are so tight they can barely find time for the partner. But when they get all that extra undesirable attention that creates extra pressure it tells on relationships greatly. All the gossip surrounding the celebrity couples can bring the feeling of insecurity when the partner is not around and lead to constant arguments. There are many celebrities who felt this pressure and its consequences. Diana Ross tried to keep her relationships media safe for fourteen years. But eventually they cracked under the pressure of celebrity gossip demand. Danny Glover can also provide first hand evidence of how destructive public intrusion can be.

Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman were once considered one of the strongest Hollywood couples. It seemed nothing could stand in their way, nothing could break them up. They were together for 9 years when they decided to split. That was a real shock to everybody. One of the most solid relationships ended! The fans were desperate. The reasons for this celebrity break up were quite trivial: both had busy professional lives, they were on different locations for long stretches of time, reporters constantly revealed news and gossip about each of them which caused them to grow further and further apart from each other. As a result they decided to split on friendly terms. This celebrity break up shows how celebrity couples can crack if under media pressure.

I bet every celebrity couple would tell you how hard it is to maintain celebrity relations and protect them from public intrusion. It would be great if they could simply isolate their relationships. But that is not possible as they are public figures and thus, always in the limelight.
