It is absolutely true fact that popular culture may be found everywhere. You will hardy find some branch of entertainment where the actual influence of pop culture tendencies is minimal. Cartoons are also the branch where pop culture left its step.

It is absolutely true fact that cartoons were considerably cooler in the 1980s. Cartoons were less overt political correctness. They had gloriously outlandish characters. It is true fact that the things didn’t make huge sense all that often, but old cartoons were interesting to watch and greatly immerse yourself in.

Nobody will object the fact that 2D cel shaded animation was much cooler than modern flashy CG fests. I am not joking. Seriously. It is true fact that the stuff onscreen seemed to include some mass to it. It is true that these endless action movies were advertisements for some related merchandise, but still the actual content of each and every episode has proved to be incredible memorable trough the generations. That is why old cartoons remain huge fun to watch. That is why such older series are still quite popular and sometimes become even best sellers on DVDs. It is worth saying that they are highly respected by popular culture enthusiasts. The cartoons of 80’s were exciting, fun and lodged themselves so ideally in the collective consciousness that a great deal of movies, figures, games, shirts and some numerous types of other stuff proving their popularity.

For example the series of ‘Transformers’ has got to be the most obvious proof of this theory. This cartoon was based on a Japanese toy line. While the toy line was absolutely failing the cartoon became the greatest merchandise, animated movie and TV phenomenon of that decade. Thus the original Japanese toys became repainted, got a storyline slapped onto certain franchise and turned into something almost mythical. It is true that the legend lived on until 90s with new transformer cartoons and toy lines. In addition comics and other merchandise were created, and of course, it will be unfair to forget that in 2007 came the first transformer blockbuster action movie. Later on, in 2009 all the world enjoyed second part of transformer movie. And now all of us wait for the third part. Personally I consider that it is not bad for a considerably old 80s cartoon about automobiles that turned into robots. Most definitely not bad.

It is absolutely clear that transformer cartoons have become the part of popular culture and I must admit that it is still quite important part of it as people seem never to forget these characters. It is difficult to fins some other movies which has such a long and happy life in mass culture.
