Being the heaviest of all mountain bikes you will find that Free-ride bikes are not suitable for lengthy rides on level terrain where comfort will likely be more of a priority. Lightweight construction bikes such as Cross Country (XC) are amazingly efficient but not recommended for uneven terrain. If exciting Downhill racing appeals to you then a specialized Downhill (DH) bikes is going to be for you.

Finally be realistic about the type of mountain bike cyclist you want to be and I guarantee you will buy the ideal bike to fit your needs and be cycling for many fun years to come.
